Greetings and Happy New Years,
A Summary of the WB's Service System Discussions(81k pdf)
The following is an update of information and events.
WSZF
*WSZF is Feb 4th-6th in -0- degree weather. Our internet web group emails have been quite busy and intense discussing which topics are the "headliners" so Nila and I anticipate a long weekend ahead of us hiding from the snow.
NAWS 2009 to 2010 Annual Report
*This year's Annual report was mailed to conference participants and RSCs. I will bring a copy to the February RSC meeting.
It is also posted online here:
Annual report
WCNA
*WCNA postcards were included in the same mailing (which I will also bring to the RSC meeting) and can also be ordered from customer service or downloaded from the convention webpage:
WCNA postcard. Please help us to get these distributed. They have contacted the events on the NAWS calendar to ask if they are willing to distribute these also.
*The selected volunteers to participate in the local Host Committee for the WCNA have been email notifed this week of their being selected and asked if still interested. We should know within a week of those confirmed.
Service System
*The World Board and Service System Workgroup met jointly to discuss input on the project and talk about revisions to the proposals. We are working on that revision now and should have it posted by March. In the meantime, we are attaching an update that explains what changes you can expect to see. You can also download the same update from the project website:

USSC (United States Fellowship Assembly)
*World has received a number of inquiries about a United States fellowship assembly or USSC. There may be perceptions that this is either a part of the Service System Project or in response to it, but this is not the case. We are three years into the Service System Project and have only seen the same emails that most of you have. Since this event is not being coordinated by any duly elected representative or registered area, region, or zone the World is not really comfortable commenting. There are issues that are raised in their material about NAWS and those questions World is happy to respond to. A United States conference is not an idea that World believes will help us better achieve our primary purpose or they would have included it in the Service System proposals. As always, World is open to your concerns, ideas, and comments.

Hello San Diego/Imperial Valley,
I'm feeling truly blessed to be able to serve such a wonderful Region and hope
this is a new way to keep you up to date with things happening in NA around the
World.
We just finished the Post CAR Assembly for GSRs and RCMs and I missed those of
you who were unable to make it. We had 60 in attendance with free brunch
throughout the morning and afternoon. I believe I achieved my goal of keeping
it informative while allowing the audience to be interactive in providing their
input to pass on to the World. For those of you who missed it, I am providing
some items for your information.
1. Attached is a copy of the World Service Conference's Summary of Decisions
(or votes made) last April.
2. A link to the
Living
Clean book project (a 4-year project with 2 more years to go).
3. A link to the Service System project (as the World is working on ways to
improve how we operate NA as a whole - this will be a 2-year project).
4. A copy of the
World Pool Resume and link to the online version. This resume
is used to run for any World position or to participate in World projects (such
as literature production or world conventions).
THEY WILL HOLD THE NEXT WORLD CONVENTION HERE IN SAN DIEGO!!!
WCNA-344
34th World Convention of NA
1-4
September 2011
San
Diego Convention Center
5.
The World will be seeking around 13 local members to be on a local HOST
committe some time around the end of 2010. Standardly, this is up to a 9 month
committment with a suggested clean time of 10 years, but no less than 5 years
clean. It is a very strenuous time consuming committment and recommended to not
hold any other positions at the same time as your committment to this position.
This information is based on past history, so don't quote me on it!
I've also been
approached lately on the topic of Consensus Based
Decision Making and how it works. I've attached an exerpt on this for
more information.
As a reminder, as
your Regional Delegate and Nila as your Regional Delegate alternate, it is our
duty to assist anyone in our fellowship with questions related to service
locally as well as methods utilized around the world. We would love to put on a
workshop at your upcoming event or just answer questions you may have about a
particular subject, or even pros and cons of items of concern. Please remember
no question is too dumb! It is also our duty to take your input back to the
world.
Please don't hesitate to contact us as follows:
