Don and I attended the World Service Conference on behalf of our region. This conference was a tedious one due to the business sessions running over.
As you will see our two motions did not pass; it was decided that they needed ⅔ to pass since they were “setting policy”. I objected to this ruling and voiced that the World Board had made the change in their meeting and we were not seeking to add to the GTWS at this time, just redirect the board. The conference upheld the CoFacilitator’s decision. I also voiced my concern over about the appearance that the WB was setting the rules and not the CoFacilitators. Due to this ruling I did not present Motion 7 in the formal New Business session since in the last straw poll in discussion it not even receive majority support; however another RD did present it and we wasted 2 hours on it any way. The Traditions book was approved!
I had scheduled the Post Conference assembly for June 19th and was just told that is Father’s Day so I am going to hold off on fliers until we discuss and I look for other options. I should be able to give you a date and email a flier right after our discussion.
At the assembly we will give a full report on the happenings at WSC 2016 including videos of our Fellowship Development efforts over the past cycle, information regarding the Illicit Literature discussions and the project plans for the upcoming cycle.
Don and I both caught a nasty bug at the conference along with probably 75% of the participants, not fun.
