November Regional Delegate Report

11/08/13

Since last RSC I attended the Imperial county ASC where I gave a brief over view of the local services portion of the SSP. It was initially planned that I would give them a full SSP presentation however things were changed along the way and there was supposed to be presentations by Outreach, PI and H&I also; so I scaled down my presentation. Their were only 4 members of the ICASC present due to most of their members coming to San Diego for the men’s breakfast.

There was no representation from regional PI or H&I so I gave my presentation and  outreach did theirs and then we had a general service discussion. The discussion following the brief presentation was good. Their area is already meeting quarterly and they were interested in the GSF portion as their main problems are lack of strong groups and service participation.

While giving the presentation it once again became apparent to me that the material is not written in a way that is easily understood. Comments were made following our reading of the material like “What did that mean” and “They lost me”; but upon clarification and further discussion they were able to understand the ideas being presented.

Overall I believe it was a successful trip, even though attendance was small, due to the contact made by the region and the discussions about their participation in the RSC. The members were enthusiastic and grateful for our attendance. The area was very welcoming and even fed us :-).

I have been researching locations to have CAR report and other workshops in the coming months. I will be attending the next RSC Activities to discuss collaborating on some of these events.

I attended the regional Policy committee meeting and the BOT meeting this month.

I will be making a motion for our region to support the creation of a proposal for a CA state coordinating body as we have previously discussed. The proposal (if majority of CA regions agree to proceed) will be developed by an ad hoc committee of RD/RDAs and presented for input to the fellowship and ultimately to the groups for their decision whether or not to create the body based on the proposal. I’ll be handing out copies of the letter explaining this today.

The CAR report should be coming out at the end of this month and then our work of making sure the groups have the information they need to develop their conscience will begin. Again if you area is planning on having a CAR report workshop and would like Don and/or myself to participate please let us know the date as soon as possible, thank you.

I have a separate report attached for WSLD. portal on their website to make it easier forr those members who wish to contribute directly. even has a automatic monthly donation feature that was requested by members.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve,
